GMT, the traveler's watch
GMT stands for Greenwich Mean Time, the local time at the prime meridian of the London borough of the same name. The GMT module consists of an additional hand, with an arrow-shaped end, that completes one rotation every 24 hours and allows the watch to keep track of a time zone other than the local time already indicated by the hour hand (which completes a cycle in 12 hours).
A new GMT caliber
The Seiko NH34A is the first affordable GMT caliber from one of the world’s most established automatic movement manufacturers.

The cash register
With its 39mm case, the Nereide GMT is designed both for those who are seduced by the refinement of one of the most beloved mechanical complications, and for those who wish to wear a diving watch with unusual color combinations and particular mirrored or polished finishes, a distinctive feature of this new collection.
The lunette
The bezel is made of BK7 optical glass and features a special mirror finish on the lower half, a unique feature of the GMT collection. This material has exceptional physical properties. Free of lead, it is lighter and of higher quality than other glass crystals. Its low dispersion (with Abbe numbers around 60) and low refraction (1.52), combined with high clarity, make it perfect for creating high-precision and durable glass objects.
The case back
The finely engraved caseback celebrates the first adoption of the 24-time zone system as a global reference time system based on Greenwich Mean Time in 1884. Surrounding the globe are the world's major cities, along with their respective time zones, allowing the wearer to set the time in the traditional way while preserving the allure of a purely mechanical precision instrument.
